I ignored the link and i logged into my chase account and they said it was the at&t breach, which has been reported in the news recently In the old days, your mother’s maiden name and name of your first pet was information that only you and your family or close friends would know Call each credit bureau and make sure your credit is frozen or locked if you are affected
Did Social Security numbers get leaked? What we can VERIFY | wqad.com
They can explain the difference
(if this is what you want to do, of course.)
I got an email from discover credit card (i have a discover card and they do free monitoring) saying “we found your ssn on a dark web site” The email said to put a fraud alert on my experian credit file and also review my credit report How would my info get onto the dark web Here's the harsh reality of 2024
No need to mess with telegram bots or crypto I got an alert from discover saying that my social security has been found on the dark web Is that a scare tactic A week ago i signed up for insurance at health clinic and i had to fill out a form with my ssn
I could then hear the receptionist speaking to the insurance company on the phone in the lobby repeating everything loud enough for everyone to hear
Ssns use to be usable for a quick buck (like signing up for a credit card) but the requirements have become more stringent over the years No one approves anything with just a social You would need to be specifically targeted for someone to take advantage of your social security number. My ssn was leaked due to security issues at my old college so i froze my credit out of caution
With that being said, i think there's a lower risk of it happening now It used to be common for job applications and medical offices to ask for your ssn, but that is not the case anymore due to security risks. In the same way bank security questions are useless now
