Hi, i'm using windows 11 and i'm enjoying it so far There is however one thing that's confusing me and that's the 2 different options to change power configurations in the settings menu and the control panel. Recently, my win 11 home pc will not enter sleep mode when unused for extended periods of time even though the pc settings specify that it should go to sleep after 10 min Even over night, the pc will not go into sleep mode
I used to set up a saving power plan that charges up to 60% on windows 10 It was easy to find since it locates directly in the power icon on the bottom right and i was able to change back and forth to the original plan quickly. I understand that you want to use the high performance power plan of your laptop but it does not show in your options If you want to restore high performance power plan on windows 11, you can choose to create it on control panel.
Nov 11, 2025, 2:29 pm hello fred, thank you for reaching out about your windows 11 device not shutting down properly
I understand how frustrating it can be when your computer does not respond as expected, especially after repeated attempts This issue often occurs due to power settings, background processes, or system configuration conflicts. Anyhow, as a workaround, it would be great at least to be able to call a script/command to switch between best power efficiency, balanced and best performance power modes. Follow these steps to create a custom power plan in windows 11 and set a specific timer for sleep mode
Open the start menu and type control panel. Select control panel from the search results
