Masahiro sakurai talks about an experience many thought led to smash (it didn't) No, sakurai already confirmed as much prior to the start of the youtube channel Bodying someone in the king of fighters '95 in front of her partner

To be honest, it's a bit of a long shot
I think we have come to a situation where it is not sustainable to try to produce games on the large scale that we currently do, because it is too much work
I feel that we cannot continue like this, but the only effective breakthrough i can think of at this point is generative ai. Sakurai kirby is so much cuter than current kirby The air riders avatar in the nintendo today widget (that was visible once so far i think) has that special something that makes me excited. Sakurai hasn't made a good game since kirby air riders for switch 2, so obviously his opinion doesn't count.
This is more sakurai being sakurai, just like the air riders drop in nintendo music This is all stuff he's done with his games, he's just more folded into the standard nintendo structure now He's had his own marketing structure/cadence since like… melee i'm still pretty sure the weirdness with prime 4 is down to it being revealed waaaay too early, nintendo having to keep people confident. That it inspired sakurai is a great thing
Nintendo has some of the most barebone options in their games that don't really get mentioned enough and hopefully sakurai influences other dev's as well.
It is a thing that is near and dear to his heart He wants people to be able to have fun playing games no matter what, it's quite literally his life's passion. Sakurai is a genius, and this youtube channel was a wonderfully benevolent side project that hopefully inspires many game developers.
