Asia is more a geographic term than a homogeneous continent, and the use of the term to describe such a vast area always carries the potential of obscuring the enormous diversity among the regions it encompasses.
Asia is divided into five major regions
Central, east, south, southeast, and western asia, plus north asia, covering siberia. Asia is subdivided into 49 countries, five of which (georgia, azerbaijan, russia, kazakhstan, and turkey) are transcontinental countries lying partly in europe. Asia is the largest of the world’s continents, covering approximately 30 percent of the earth’s land area It is also the world’s most populous continent, with roughly 60 percent of the global population.
