What worked for me was having the dwarf the beast in my party and after doing a quest or two for lohar, who is in the undertavern, he gave me a quest (which i cannot remember the name of) to get something from the fishworks cellar, which is what the game calls the area under the decrepit hatch.

The swarms are very resistant to physical damage You can buy more clasps from the town btw Keep in mind though, that they have resistance to all energies (except sonic), spell resistance and that their reflex save is the highest of their three saves So while it's definitely possible to kill them with elemental damage it is not very resource efficient
