Make sure they are on the same layer, not grouped and not turned into a compound object All you need to do is select the image and ungroup (command/shift/g) and then the opacity will show up properly as not 100% “ungroup” and “release compound object” are two separate commands, which you need to do until the commands grey out, meaning you can’t do them any further

Hi i am wondering how to convert all the white areas of the following image to transparent Essentially i just created a black rectangle and on top of this the white text and star shape I would like all the areas that are white to be transparent (including the black areas beneath the white) so that when i save the artboard as a png file the areas that are white will be transparent Occasionally i’ve had to separately select the individual pieces, cut them to the clipboard and paste in place one by one in order to release the compounds if they have been generated originally in some other program than illustrator.
