Mealworms on the other hand do need a constant supply of bran to feed on. So i put up a sign for him to leave it open and i didn't care if my mail got wet Has anyone tried feeding maggots as live feed as apposed to meal/wax worms ?.they seem to be a lot cheaper than the worms but are they any good.i was thinking of offering them in a live ramikin type feeder.i have just ordered a cage type feeder from haiths to stop the starlings getting in on.

Can anyone tell me what they are Maggots are bred on offal and the like, meaning there is a real risk of passing on salmonella to the birds that eat them Mealworms, though much more expensive than maggots, are fed on vegetable matter, so no salmonella risk.
