Not sure if anyone else is in the same boat, but the old trane trace 700 load calc software is being phased out and is currently switching to trace 3d Do not under any circumstances give trane money for this pile of garbage.

I really liked trace 700 could use it very easily A monumental step down from trace 700, i would rather calculate this shit by hand it is so bad You could do quick load calcs with many different levels of complexity by easily changing the settings/inputs

Trace 3d has been much less intuitive

The 3d element doesn't really.

Has anyone had experience using hap or the new trace 3d plus I would love to hear about some pros and cons of each software to be used on a wide range of projects, from small tenant spaces to entire buildings I understand trace 3d plus will be better for larger buildings, but is it overkill for small projects Appreciate any help thank you.

This community's main purpose is to help trane trace 3d plus users with troubleshooting questions Since trane decided to sunset trace 700 Many users are force to use trace 3d plus There isn't a lot of online support forums for the software

All posts must contain trace 3d content. You can still use trace 700 just know it won’t have any technical support (to my knowledge) We are currently reviewing trane trace 3d+ to determine any differences between it and trace 700 and any bugs before committing. Anyone here have experience with trace 3d plus

My company has used trace 700 forever and apparently 700 is being bricked by trane at the end of the year My initial impression is that it doesn’t seem to be nearly as robust as 700 Any designers/engineers have any insight? I’m a big fan of trane trace, been using it for a decade for loads and energy modeling (compliance and leed)

It works well, gets the job done, and is relatively easy to learn (though maybe difficult to master?)

I never liked hap’s ui, though not saying trace is amazing either For more context, trane is phasing out trace 700 for 3d plus, which runs energyplus, but it appears to be pretty. I recently tried the trial version of trace 3d plus I found a few irritating things missing compared to its predecessor trace 700

For example, when the building is offset slightly from north, it was possible to rotate an entire model within the load parameters in trace 700. I was just reviewing calculations in 3d plus and didn’t trust them at all The program seems to have lost functionality for load calculations from trace 700 Just purchased elite chvac so i can have a back check on calculations

It’s windows 95 simple in the graphics but does calculations as expected and gives great outputs for quality control.

I am currently having a couple modeling issues in trace 3d Mainly that the completed revit model i exported to trace 3d has no walls for some reason (as seen in the screenshot) If it helps, the model was made in an older version of revit and had to be updated before being exported. A little late to the party here, but trace 3d is absolute dogshit
