What are your impression/experience with faro arms (gage plus) Faro arm users out there, what software do you use/prefer and why?

I am looking to get a faro arm for some on machine (lathe, man Overall, this is about what i was expecting to hear Mill, and vmc) measurements and inspection room cmm reports

Documentation shows that the machine is accurate to.0002

I'm comparing hexagon absolute arm 85 with scanner and probe, this portable cmm offers a 0.008mm precision with a faro faroarm with scanner and probe, and this protable cmm offers a 0.009 mm precision.

The faro is far faster, and many of the parts we do, we are able to prove them out with a digital height station But if we are talking about using the cmm, it might be prudent to consider the software? Hi i have access to a faro arm which has the typical inspection software Can i have some suggestions for software that can help turn the 3d points into something editable in.

I just got a new faro arm that uses cam2 software There are two very simple things (i assume) that i can't figure out One when building the model via taking measurements it sometimes will display the measurement readings on it But as i add more components it won't for those

Hello, i have a faro arm model f04 (faro gage) please, someone knows how to open and clean the encoders, apparently they are dirty and i want to clean them without damaging it (middle encoder mark error), thank you

Two years back we purchased a faro quantum 8ft arm with cam2 measure x, the renishaw sensor probe, tripod and a few other accessories Our arm lives on the shop floor and we haven't had any accuracy issues We send it back to faro annually for certification and have had no issues We currently have three dedicated operators for it but the arm spends it's time on the tripod out on the floor.

Looking for a work stand to mount my faro arm on Ive looked at the rolling faro cart and its really nice, but $2600 and weighs 800 lbs i used a 4' faro usb in my home office so i need something good to mount it to but not granite Does someone make a steel table or cart with casters on it. At least the difficult alignments and design would already be complete

A diy faro arm seems less intimidating to me, since precision rotary bearings are a bit simpler

But still those encoders arenโ€™t cheap, and i donโ€™t see it replacing a dial bore gage, for example Sounds like a fun project, please report back if you do it! This is a perpetual license with optional maintenance at around $1200/yearly
