If inactive, why is there not a notice of some sort that the function is not accessible After many years of using norton antivirus products and recommending it to. Either way, norton needs to fix.

Easiest way is to right click you norton icon in the system tray & click on 'disable auto protect' & 'disable smart firewall' in turn
Each should allow you to disable for the default 15 minutes, or, 'more options' will allow you to select various other timings or to switch off permanently
If the latter, remember to switch back on. The norton website says that if a reboot doesn't resolve the issue (it didn't on any of the pcs) then the only option is to run norton r&r (which does correct the issue, but is a pain in the neck) I assume a recent auto update must have corrupted norton. If you really want to try disable features that can be temporarliy turned off, right click the norton icon in the system tray and you can disable the firewall and auto protect
Fyi the reason you got the reply about norton family is that you originally posted in the norton family forum board. The only way i can get my compiles to work is when i disable auto protect I have the app listed in settings with allow all permissions Hello @ron_katz and you’ve added antivirus & scans exclusions

Are you using visual studio Info here can you create work product folder and exclude folder with antivirus and scans? Norton intrusion prevention will catch most of the attacks This can be done through the norton product interface, and the steps vary slightly depending on your operating system.
