Lloyds certificates started out as ordinary shares of 25p each lloyds tsb group plc then the name changed to lloyds banking group plc and finally instead of shares of 25p each they became shares of 10p each Recently my brother in law passed away, he didnt have a will so while sorting out his affairs we found that he and his late mother held some shares in llyoyds banking group, following this we contacted equiniti who confirmed they did hold some shares, we have so far managed to register my wife has next of kin and register both holders death using the small estates procedure ,we have paid a. It seems counterintuitive but it was structured as a reverse takeover i.e Technically tsb bought lloyds so, assuming there were no subsequent share splits or other types of restructuring in the interim, they could actually be valid certificates for shares in lloyds banking group and it would be lloyds share certificates of the same vintage.
I have decided to sell my lloyds (previously lloydstsb, and before that tsb) shares
They are currently shown on equiniti shareview. They will now be lloyds banking group shares rather than lloyds tsb shares (assuming they weren't cashed in at any point) I can't remember whether lloyds tsb shares were exchanged 1:1 for lloyds banking group shares I think they were, but if i'm wrong he may now have more or less than 199 shares.
