When initially creating the accounts, user is not given an option to select account type for any of the accounts created by bank download. The account type is credit and this does not seem to be editable I have altered the account intent as liability but in reports it keeps showing up in credit cards How can i fix without deleting account and starting all over

The financial institution chooses the account type I agree that checking is probably a poor choose, but i had cds with synchrony and so i know this to be the case But quicken really doesn't treat savings accounts much different than checking accounts, so you can just change the account intent to put it in the savings area. A type = cash account cannot be reconciled like a checking account
All you can do is a simplified update cash balance type action to adjust the register balance to the amount of cash you have on hand. Still much to learn i have two pocket money account One is mine, the other is my wife's Here's is a cash type
