Idk if it's necessarily optifine that's the problem but when i downloaded the 1.20 optifine that's when it stopped working

The only way i know of to make vanilla minecraft have full bright is to load a hacked client that has full bright and enable it and then from there vanilla minecraft should also have full bright.
