Here is one universal truth for hay
Relative humidity 90% rh the hay will have no lower than 40% moisture The magic moisture for raking 70% rh the hay will be no lower than 18 to 20% moisture the magic moisture for small square baling 65% rh the hay will.
The more consistent the hay is feed into the bailer the better We want the hay to go into the uprights of the balewagon and just squeeze into the uprights with a small amount of pressure To long and it can be really hard on the sheet metal and pins holding the second table and even brake bale strings. I have been reading quite a few posts and other literature concerning what the ideal humidity is to rake and bale.but there doesn't always seem to be a consensus
