Macos was first released in 1999 as mac os x server 1.0, built using the technologies apple acquired from next, but did not include the signature aqua user interface (ui) The original mac mini was initially supplied with mac os x 10.3, then later with mac os x 10.4, and can run mac os 9 applications, as long as a bootable copy of the os 9 system folder is installed from which to run the classic environment (although the 2005 mac mini cannot natively boot to mac os 9). Mac os x 10.0 is the first desktop version, aimed at regular users, released in march 2001
