I was annoyed to find out today that avast bought out ccleaner in 2017
I didn't know this and don't particularly want ccleaner on my pc anymore, but i do want the last good version of ccleaner available if anyone could send my a file link
Ccleaner also offers to create a backup of the registry before making alterations, which is something that should always take plans when altering a registry (especially by hand). Ccleaner is great if you know how to use it, what options to not touch, which ones to disable I use it for quickly deleting temporary files, it's convenient to be able to delete browsing history from several apps/web browsers in one click I shut off all analytics, system health monitor, automatic updates, automatic launching of program etc.
Ccleaner is classified as pua (potentially unwanted application) which is efined as programs that are not malicious but are generally considered unsuitable for most business networks It's not strictly malware since it doesn't actively try to infect a system, but it's also generally unnecessary Everything ccleaner does, windows can do natively. I'm a heavy ccleaner user for both it's registry and disk cleanup functions * (somehow it works better than windows own cleanup utilities) for me.
Because of the registry pruning
I do notice space savings and performance increases * (we're talking a few benchmark points Especially after running a registry defrag. Planning on building a computer but need some advice This is the place to ask
Anyone is welcome to seek the input of our helpful community as they piece together their desktop. I'm hoping this is the right place for this But it basically boils down to this Periodically the family computer will bog down really badly
Files will take forever to open, programs will stutter and lag, webpages will get frozen on load and the entire computer will seize up for a few minutes at a time
If i'm the one who takes care of the issue, i uninstall ccleaner and performance. Ccleaner goes too far in the opposite direction, and nowadays resorts to scaremongering in an attempt to keep being relevant for its users (it’s why they refer to effectively all files it cleans as “trackers”), not to mention its utter uselessness in how it removes local app caches meant to speed up applications which just forces those to. No, do not use ccleaner Ever since it was bought by piriform, it now has ad/bloatware, and sometimes malware as their update servers get hacked apparently
Also, their cleaners are only going to hurt you such as their registry cleaner which only destroys your system As others said, if you're running windows 10, let windows do its thing
